Ivy League welcomes GEORGI KAY to the fold!
Ivy League is bursting with pride from welcoming to the fold 19 year old Perth singer/ songwriter GEORGI KAY! Joining the likes of The Rubens, Alpine, Lanie Lane, Cloud Control, Deep Sea Arcade and Josh Pyke, GEORGI KAY is no doubt one of Australia’s most talented and exciting young artists.
At the age of 10 left-handed GEORGI KAY taught herself to play upside down on her dad’s electric guitar listening to his diverse range of music – from Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles to more modern Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay, as well as Grace Jones, BB King, Elvis and Michael Jackson.
At 17, GEORGI KAY won Song Of The Year WAMi for ‘Breakfast in Bedlam’ and in 2010 won the MySpace/Sony/fbiradio National Songwriting competition for ‘You & Me’. Georgi is also the co-writer and vocalist on Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl’s platinum-selling single ‘In My Mind’ which won Best Dance Release at the 2012 ARIA Awards and was nominated for Grammy!
With more notches on her music belt that we had Bacardi Breezers at 19, GEORGI KAY now plays the role of “the troubled” Melissa in the Jane Campion directed television miniseries Top of the Lake. Premiering in UKTV in Australia 24 March, 3 of Georgi’s original tracks feature in the soundtrack including ‘Ipswich’ which is currently receiving airplay on Triple J and community radio.
With an EP and shows in the works, 2013 is set to be a breakout year for GEORGI KAY and we can’t wait to watch it all happen. Watch this space!
